4 Growing Job Markets to think about

It’s always good to approach college with a plan. Don’t go to school just to go to school – go for a reason, to learn a skill or a discipline. If you want to better your life, your career,or just make more money, here are a handful of jobs most people don’t know about. Each of these jobs is in a rapidly growing field, expected to expand more than twenty percent by the year 2020. Logistician

Whats it pay? In 2010 the median pay was seventy thousand dollars per year.

Whats the projected job growth between 2010 and 2020? 26 percent

What is it? A logistician works with managing logistics, which is a fancy way of saying ‘how things get from here to there’. How does a product get from a factory to the shipping yard to the store to the consumer? A logistician works out the fastest and/or most cost effective way to move products. As corporations become global in scope, this job becomes more important.

What kind of degree do I need? Bachelors

Geoscientist

Whats it pay? In 2010 the median pay was eighty thousand dollars per year.

Whats the projected job growth between 2010 and 2020? 21 percent

What is it? As America searches for new ways to live “green” and new sources of fuel and energy, geoscientists are becoming more in demand. These people study the composition of the earth and the environment,and develop new ways to restore damage to the planet and protect it from further damage. A love of the great outdoors is a must, and be prepared to visit some adverse climates.

What kind of degree do I need? Bachelors

Biomedical Engineer

Whats it pay? In 2010 the median pay was eighty thousand dollars per year.

Whats the projected job growth between 2010 and 2020? 62 percent

What is it? The biomedical field innovates the field of medicine. A biomedical engineer works to design, create, and produce cutting edge medical equipment and drugs. Pacemakers, prostheses, surgical tools, and diagnostic technology are but a few of the areas a biomedical engineer can work in.

What kind of degree do I need? Bachelors

Diagnostic Medical Sonagrapher

Whats it pay? In 2010 the median pay was sixty thousand dollars per year.

Whats the projected job growth between 2010 and 2020? 44 percent

What is it? It is dangerous and expensive to perform invasive surgeries, and so most doctors and hospitals are becoming increasingly reliant on imaging devices to diagnose and treat illness. Echocardiogram, ultrasound, sonograms, and MRI all four different kind of imaging becoming more and more in demand. Get in now, while the industry is still looking for sonographers.
