Bethany University is a private Christian university endorsed and founded by the Assemblies of God. The school is the official leadership program for the Northern California and Nevada District of the Assemblies of God and offers 18 majors and 22 minors. The student/teacher ratio is an impressive 12 to 1 which means students can expect a personalized classroom experience. Every year, Associate’s, Bachelor of Arts, Master of Arts, Master of Science, Certificate, and Credential degrees are issued in subjects such as Biblical and Theological Studies, Social Sciences Cult Practices, and Clinical Psychology.
Originally founded in 1919 as Glad Tidings Bible Institute, Bethany University is located in Scotts Valley, California. The campus resides amongst giant redwoods in the Santa Cruz Mountains and is just minutes from the beach. Obviously, surfing and hiking are popular activities for the faculty, staff, and students. Close to the San Francisco Bay Area and Silicon Valley, students do not have to travel far to find jobs, take tourist excursions, or simply lounge in the sun by the ocean.
The student life at Bethany University promotes spiritual, academic, and social growth through over 20 student clubs and organizations, Intercollegiate Athletics, Musical groups, and outreach teams. Students are also encouraged to form their own club or organization if they see a need that isn’t being addressed. Chapel attendance, dodge ball games, and mission trips are also very popular at Bethany.
Through faith-based and scholarly development, students enrolled in Bethany have a variety of unique graduate and undergraduate degree programs to choose from. Undergraduate programs include Addiction Studies, Business Administration, Child Development, Church Leadership, and Organizational Management. Graduate programs include Master of Arts in Christian Ministry, Master of Arts in Education, Master of Science in Psychology, and Master of Arts in Teaching.
Known as eBethany, the distance learning arm of Bethany University enables students to complete a Bachelor of Arts degree completely via the Internet. Correspondence with faculty is just as open through the distance education program as it is for those attending in-person. Staff that are experts in customized support help students throughout their college years with everything from selecting courses, registering online, and applying for financial aid. The eBethany program does not require campus attendance and utilizes the Open Text FirstClass ® course management system. FirstClass ® is known for exceptional collaboration capabilities between faculty, staff, and students. Furthermore, several degrees are offered through eBethany including Addiction Studies, Applied Professional Studies, Biblical & Theological Studies, and Pastoral Theology & Church Leadership.
Lastly, career services, learning services, workshops, and financial aid are a valuable asset to anyone attending Bethany University. Free workshops for interviewing and resume writing are held by Educational Support Services.
