California Institute of Integral Studies, founded in 1968, is located in the heart of San Francisco, CA. CIIS was founded with the intention of bridging traditional Western philosophy and culture with that of the Eastern philosophies such as Buddhism and Taoism. Their East-West Psychology program is one of the only programs of its kind anywhere in the country. The school boasts small class sizes, internationally acclaimed professors, and cutting edge programs in psychology, consciousness, and transformation. The international and alternative setting of San Francisco complements this type of study very well. The school offers distance learning in the graduate division of programs. CIIS prepares its students to pursue careers in community mental health, private practice therapy and counseling, work in non-profit organizations and community initiatives, and much more. The study of many paths of spirituality is integrated into the coursework.
