California State University, Stanislaus, also referred to as Cal State Stanislaus, or Stan State, was established in 1957 and is located in Turlock, CA. Turlock is a small town with a population of 56,000, the second largest in all of Stanislaus County. It is has recently begun to experience a rapid population growth. It is nicknamed “The City of God” and for a town of its size, it is home to an extremely diverse religious demographic. Many variations of the Christian religion have established churches in Turlock, and there are also Assyrian, Sikh, and other Eastern religious centers located there. It’s College of Arts, Letters and Sciences has recently been broken into four separate structures: College of the Arts, College of Health and Human Sciences, College of Humanities and Social Sciences, and the College of Natural Science and Mathematics. The school has been ranked as one of the top ten West Coast public Universities in the new “West Coast Master’s” category by U.S. News and World Report. The same report cited it as a “Best Buy” University for the past seven years. Online degree programs include a Criminal Justice Degree Completion Program, which is offered through distance learning in Stockton, CA, and a Bachelor in Social Science. This particular degree is a general program in the liberal arts/social sciences, and accepts most transfer credits from other institutions. An Executive Master of Business Administration is offered for the working professional, offering Saturday and online courses. The College of Business Administration also offers a Master of Science Degree in Business Administration and Finance, with the fall semester offered through Cal State Stanislaus, and the spring semester in conjunction with the Universite de Cergy-Pontoise, near Paris. Another unique online degree program is the Master of Science in Genetic Counseling.
