College of Saint Mary Distance Learning

The College of Saint Mary is a small, Catholic women’s university located in Omaha, Nebraska. The University has gained continually renewing accreditation from The Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools, and their nursing programs (R.N., A.S.N., B.S.N., M.S.N.) are accredited by the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission. The college has historically helped aspiring young women achieve higher education and pursue rewarding careers in their field of study. In addition, women are more likely to receive doctorate degrees and succeed in areas like engineering, law, and medicine which are predominantly male fields of study at other institutions.

The college does feature distance learning programs for undergraduate students and the fully qualified staff to match. More than adequate resources are provided using commonplace technologies in the ways of student-teacher interaction platforms, online library/research resources, and convenient access from any location via the internet. Specific publications about their distance education programs are not posted on the site, however more information can be obtained by contacting CSM staff directly, and they are happy to help.

The College of Saint Mary is one of many secondary and post-secondary schools for women around the globe that have been founded by the Sisters of Mercy. The college was founded on the premise that society can directly benefit from educating women, much to the opposition of present thought at the time. Thusly, a curriculum based in the liberal arts was installed along with a small array of degrees that have slowly grown over the years to comprise a multitudinous range of majors. Catholic tradition is present, but also guiding and without restrictive practice that would inhibit the student’s personal growth.

The school is best known for its certification programs and degrees in Nursing and Registered Nursing. What is also beneficial about the college is that it has encouraged many women to enter the field of Business Administration & Management, a field primarily dominated by men. Other popular fields of study include multiple levels of Teacher Education ending in, but not limited to a Master of Arts in Education, as well as Legal Assistant or Paralegal practice, and Health/Health Care Administration & Management.

For full-time students, a CSM education costs $20,780 per year, with part-time students paying $685 per credit hour. Financial aid is absolutely available to every student that enrolls at the college with all but a handful of students receiving some form of financial aid. Every one of those students in that category is receiving an institutional grant, either from the university itself, external sources, or alumni by means of merit-based awards, grants, and awards for past performance.

The bottom line is that the College of Saint Mary means quality and opportunity for women all over the country and all over the world. Enrolling at this university means that nothing will be unaccounted for and no stone along the pathway to a greater education will be left unturned.
