Southern Illinois University Workforce Education
Hello. My name is Dr. Charles Sidell, Program Coordinator for Southern Illinois University’s Workforce Education and Development Program.

SIU has been offering the bachelor’s degrees in Workforce Education in Jacksonville for over 30 years. We have 2 locations, at NAS Jacksonville and Mayport Naval Station. Additionally, we offer bachelor’s degree programs in Health Care Management and Electronic Systems Technologies Management at our NAS JAX location.

These accelerated programs are designed for working adults. Flexibility is the key in the way we offer our programs. Associate degrees are not required for entry into our programs. Placement tests, SAT or ACT tests are also not required. We award college credit, based upon 4 years of full-time work experience and occupationally related training.

We have maintained an educational partnership with FCCJ over the past 30 years. We accept FCCJ’s course work in transfer, especially AS and AAS degrees. Most FCCJ graduates finish the WED program in 12 months. It usually takes about 18 months to finish the other programs.
