Florida Community College at Jacksonville
College Fair Transfer Services Transcript
The admission requirements for this program include an Associate of Arts degree or sixty transferable hours which of course you can do at FCCJ. UF has a foreign language requirement which is at least two years of foreign language that must be completed in high school or at least eight credit hours at the college level. The business degree requirements include the completion of seven pre professional business courses with a 2.25 GPA or higher. Those pre professional courses include courses such as macroeconomics, microeconomics, financial and managerial accounting, calculus, statistics and a computer applications course.
This program is especially attractive to many working professionals; because it is an online program, all of the lectures are available to students across the state of Florida online. This means you can view your courses when it is convenient to you, if you are working full-time or schedule them around family obligations. We tape our live course sections of business lectures on the UF campus in Gainesville and then about an hour later those live course sections are available through our course websites. The lectures are available in streaming video to students across the state including Jacksonville. That means you have access to the very same faculty members, the very same courses essentially that the students on our campus in Gainesville have. Really the only difference is where you are. When it comes time to take an exam we have partnered with the Kent Campus of FCCJ, as a test site. So you will take your exams at FCCJ’s Kent Campus generally in the evening which again works well for working professional.
I want to leave you with two important websites; first, the website for the College of Business at the University of Florida, www.cba.ufl.edu. Once in the site you will be able to click on the undergraduate programs and then navigate to the online business programs from that site and learn much more about our program. In the curriculum section you can even click on a course demonstration so that you can see what our online lectures look like. Secondly I wanted to leave you with this website www.ufonlinestudents.org. This is the gator online student association, yes even in the online world students can get together and form a student organization and that’s exactly what this group has done. Jacksonville has an especially active group of students in the area. I think right now there are around sixty students in the Jacksonville area enrolled in the online business program. For those of you who are interested in our program and would really like to hear a student’s prospective on it, not only what the course are like but how you are able to fit this degree around work and family responsibilities. I encourage you to go to the second website and introduce yourself to the current crop of online gators so that they can tell you about their personal experiences in the program. Please let me know if you have additional questions about the program. You can reach me by email at online.business.degree@ufl.edu and I would be happy to chat with any prospective students about the program and how we can bring the gator nation to students here in Jacksonville. Thank you!
