Hamline University is located on 1536 Hewitt Avenue in the city of Saint Paul, Minnesota; the university is actually Minnesota’s oldest university and one of the first co-educational institutions established in the nation, Hamline University was founded and sponsored by the bishop of the Methodist church back in the year 1857. The urban campus stretches for 77 acres and is just minutes from downtown Minneapolis and Saint Paul as well. Although Hamline University does not currently offer online or distance learning programs to students there are still an assortment of scholastic opportunities to enroll in as well as many events and activities for students to join in.
Today the current enrollment at Hamline University is approximately 2,100 undergraduate students and 2,800 graduate students on campus. At this time there are approximately 185 full time employed faculty and 297 faculty members employed part time; the current student to faculty ratio is twelve to one. Hamline University offers both undergraduate and graduate degrees to students through the academic schools and colleges; the Hamlin School of Law, the Graduate School of Liberal Studies, the School of Education and the School of Business. Hamline University offers Bachelor of Arts and Science degrees in over 40 different majors of study in 50 diverse areas of interest.
The School of Business offers undergraduate degrees in finance, business management, marketing, international business and more; graduate degrees are offered in Public administration, nonprofit management, MBA, and dual degrees are offered as well. The School of Education offers an undergraduate degree as an education minor along with teaching licensure as well; Hamline University offers master’s degrees in education, literacy education, and teaching. The School of Education also offers the doctorate degree as well as licensure as principal, superintendent or special education director. The Hamline School of Law offers dual degrees as well as the masters of law for international lawyers. The Hamline University Graduate School of Liberal Studies offers bachelor of fine arts degrees in creative writing as well as master’s degrees in fine arts in writing, liberal studies and fine arts in writing for children and young adults.
There are currently 83 different student groups to choose from at Hamline University. Aside from these organizations, Hamline University provides athletics for students to compete in; there are currently 19 teams available to students as the Hamline University is a member of the NCAA Division III. These are just some of the options available to students to keep active on campus there are still many more.
At this time there are no online or distance learning programs currently available for students at this college, however there are benefits Hamline University has to offer students on campus. The quality education here increases the chances for academic prosperity for the future and there are many options available throughout the year to keep even the most active students satisfied.
