Harris–Stowe State University is located on 1536 Hewitt Avenue in the city of Saint Paul, Minnesota; the university was founded by the St. Louis Public Schools in the year 1857. Although Harris–Stowe State University does not currently offer online or distance learning programs to students but there are still a variety of educational opportunities to enroll in as well as many events and sports for students to partake in.
Today Harris–Stowe State offers both undergraduate and graduate degrees to students through the academic schools and colleges of the School of Business, College of Arts & Sciences, and the College of Education. At this time Harris–Stowe State University provides a General Education curriculum that is the groundwork for the University’s various baccalaureate degree programs in the three general professional areas. The college also provides baccalaureate degree programs in Business Administration, Teacher Education and Urban Specializations.
The University has an Urban Specializations Department that currently offers 3 Bachelor of Science degree programs to students. Each curriculum contains general education courses, professional courses and an internship in the student’s range of interest. The university provides reasoning, technological, and communication skills that as well are also emphasized. The University’s Teacher Education Department currently offers four Bachelor of Science degree programs. Each degree program comprises of general instruction courses, pre-student teaching and clinical experiences, professional courses, supervised student teaching and the State of Missouri exit assessment for teacher education as well. The Business Administration Department presently offers five Bachelor of Science degrees.
All together Harris–Stowe State offers over 12 Bachelor of Science degree programs. These degrees include the B.S in Accounting, Bachelor of Science in Hospitality and Tourism Management. Some of the other degrees offered at this time are a B.S in Urban Education, a B.S degree in Education, a B.S. degree in Business Administration, a Bachelor of Science in Health Care Administration, and a Bachelor of Science in Computer Technology and Information Systems
Harris–Stowe State also provides graduate opportunities offered through two of the sister institutions; students are permitted to apply to the University of Missouri-St. Louis Graduate School to work to a Master’s degree in Elementary, Middle, or Secondary Education. Students that are in the Criminal Justice program that want to work for an advanced degree may apply at Southeast Missouri State University. Many of these courses for both of the programs are held at Harris–Stowe State University. These are just some of the options available to students there are still many more.
At this time there are no online or distance learning programs currently available for students at this college, however there are benefits Harris–Stowe State University has to offer students on campus. The quality education here increases the chances for academic prosperity for the future and there are many options available throughout the year to keep even the most active students content.
