Keiser University was founded by the Keiser family in 1977 to provide busy non-traditional students with the professional skills and education needed to begin or advance in their careers. Operating today as a private professional university, Keiser University offers several options for students to obtain their associates, bachelors, masters, or doctoral degree through distance learning. Keiser University offers degrees through both classical and modern distance learning, and has over 30 years of experience in providing busy professionals with an excellent professional education.
Classical distance learning allows students to take courses on-campus at a satellite campus of their choosing. Courses may be taught at traditional times, but most are taught at times that are more convenient to busy, working professionals, such as at night or on the weekend. Campuses are located throughout Southern Florida and the Florida Panhandle, as well as abroad in Shanghai, China; the main campus is in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
Modern distance learning utilizes the advances in educational technology to offer courses online and through other digital media. Keiser University Online is Keiser University’s answer to the increased need and demand for online distance learning. Keeping with the philosophy of Keiser University, Keiser University Online offers small classes with 25 or fewer students. Classes are taken with a “one at a time” approach in 4 week terms to students can gain the most from their studies.
Keiser University Online is accredited through the Commission on Colleges through the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS). Accreditation ensures that students are getting a quality education online. Online degrees are offered at the associates, bachelors and masters levels. Associate’s degrees available online include Associate of Arts (AA) degrees in Accounting, Criminal Justice Homeland Security, Health Services Administration and Paralegal Studies. Associate’s of Science (AS) degrees are offered in Information Technology and Medical Assisting.
Bachelor’s degrees are available in the Bachelor of Arts (BA) and Bachelor of Science (BS) formats. Bachelor of Arts degrees include Accounting, Business, Criminal Justice, Health Services Administration, Homeland Security, and Legal Studies. The Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration is offered in both English and Spanish, and includes concentrations in Finance, Human Resources Administration, International Business and Marketing. Bachelor of Science degrees include Information Technology, Nursing (BSN), Interdisciplinary Studies, and Management Information Systems (MIS). Master’s degrees include Business Administration (MBA), Education (Master of Science), and Criminal Justice (Master of Arts).
Tuition and fees are not listed on Keiser University’s main or online campus websites. Financial aid is available in the form of student and parent (PLUS) loans, federal and state grants, and need-based scholarships. Keiser University distance learning is also a participant in the Yellow Ribbon Program, which allows military personnel to receive additional financial assistance from the VA for tuition that exceeds state tuition without affecting their entitlement for other aid. Keiser University was also recognized by GI Jobs in 2010 for being in the top 15% of military friendly institutions of higher education.
