Louisiana Tech University Distance Learning

Louisiana Tech University is a university of public research that is located in Ruston, Louisiana. The university is dedicated to servicing the community by providing higher education to aspiring students and continuing economic development by preparing students for their careers with the education they need. Much of the curriculum  is interdisciplinary offering the students a unique opportunity to meld different studies while pursuing a specific degree for a given occupation. The university is also rich in technology, finding its way through the twenty first century with up-to-date tools and instruments for students that will pave the future path of our country and the world.

Louisiana Tech provides distance education through online courses that are contracted through Ed2go. The fields of study that distance learners can access are Accounting & Finance, Business, Computer Applications, Design & Composition, Health Care & Medical, Language & Arts, Law & Legal, Personal Development, Teaching & Education, Technology, and Writing & Publishing. The courses are in broad supply and are taught by Louisiana Tech instructors assuring online students that the quality of these courses are the same as courses on campus.

Some course title include, but are not limited to Business Communications, Project Management, Health Information Management, Creative Writing, Accounting Fundamentals, and Computer Programming. Courses can be taken individually, can be taken asynchronously, or be arranged for independent or interdisciplinary studies. Students should note, however, that in order to obtain a degree with the requisite credits, courses should be taken with the advice of a career counselor.

There is also a variety of training courses, workshops, and certificate programs for students that need career-specific job training and that plan to enter the workforce shortly after. Students can receive online certificates in Banking Management Operations, Comprehensive Income Tax Preparation, Sales & Consulting, Police Sciences, Business Management, and many more fields and occupations not listed here.

Many students at Louisiana Tech engage in “General Studies”, which is the technical classification for the interdisciplinary studies that are supported by the university. Following close behind in enrollment is the popular field of Business Administration & Management. The university has a strong online business program for students of that major. Some other popular majors are General Biology, Biological Sciences, General Engineering, and Sociology.

Tuition varies by residence. In-state full-time students should expect to pay $4,911 per year and part-time students should expect to pay $177 per credit hour. Out-of-state full-time students should expect to pay $9,816 per year full-time and $177 per credit hour part-time. Financial aid is provided through the university for approximately 1 out of 4 students. Federal, state, and local grants account for approximately 2 out of 4 students.

Louisiana Tech doesn’t just feature online education, they are experienced with online education. Many different means can be administered for distance learners who want to put credits toward a degree or even pursue a degree at the university. It’s an added benefit that the cost of this tuition doesn’t break the budget.
