MidAmerica Nazarene University Distance Learning

MidAmerica Nazarene University is a liberal arts college that is Christian and located in Olathe, Kansas. Nazarene’s tradition of learning is set in the Wesleyan style giving students a strong collegiate grounding in the liberal arts while stimulating each student’s individual passions and coupling all this with biblical studies. MidAmerica Nazarene University receives support in multiple aspects from the North Central Region of the International Church of the Nazarene. The university prides itself in its reputation for academic excellence, moral community and intellectualism, and its reach into the depths of Wesleyan-Holiness faith and community.

MidAmerica Nazarene offers two distinct online options. Students can take individual courses online or they can pursue the online Registered Nurse to Bachelor of Science in Nursing program. Both of these options receive the benefits of Nazarene faculty and instruction and don’t delegate the task of teaching to assistants or an automated process. In addition, credits and degrees earned online at MidAmerica Nazarene fall under the umbrella of accreditation that MNU has received.

The R.N. to B.S.N. program can be taken at a standard pace by taking courses individually on the program track OR courses can be taken side by side in a “stacked” format allowing a one-year completion of this Bachelor’s degree! Students are taken at first through the general topics of Nursing and Nursing applications, then students are given a grounding in the baser disciplines that comprise Nursing reasoning and studies. Students are then taken through the specifics of nurse training and medicine as well as given an immersion in the ethical and spiritual aspects of health care.

The two most popular fields of study at MidAmerica Nazarene are Human Resources Management and Business Administration & Management. MidAmerica Nazarene is strong in business programs, as is the general trend in many Christian institutions for higher learning. Other popular majors include, but are not limited to Educational/Instructional Media Design, Educational Leadership & Administration, and Nursing/Registered Nurse.

For undergraduate students, tuition comes out to $17,216 per year when enrolling full-time and $576 per credit hour when enrolling part-time. For graduate students, tuition is $10,413 per year when enrolling full-time and $380 per credit hour when enrolling part-time. The tuition rates for the online Nursing program are not known, however one can expect the rates to be much cheaper per credit hour than their on-campus counterparts.

Financial aid makes it into literally almost all students attending MidAmerica Nazarene University and thusly is not hard to come by. Federal aid supplies 1 out of 4 students with financial aid in any given semester and state/local grants pertain to roughly the same recipient percentage. The university itself helps to curtail the cost of education and puts institutional grants into the hands of 98% of its students leaving a total of 99% of students receiving financial aid in some form and to some degree.

MidAmerican Nazarene University is a welcoming Christian environment of students and scholars alike. For distance learners that would like to attend MNU, but who can’t leave their present environment, the tools to take classes online and become a certified nurse are up and open for enrollment. Opportunities like these are poised only to expand in the future.
