Minnesota School of Business Distance Learning

The Globe University Minnesota School of Business is a professional career college in the Midwest. Originally founded as 2 separate institutions in Minnesota, Globe College (1885) and the Minnesota School of Business (1877), the purpose of these 2 schools was to give Minnesota youth the education needed to pursue professional careers in business through distance learning. In 1972, the Myhre family purchased Globe University. They then purchased the Minnesota School of Business in 1988 to form Globe University Minnesota School of Business, or GU/MSB. Today, there are 20 campuses in Minnesota as well as Wisconsin and South Dakota as well as complete degrees offered online through Blackboard, classic distance learning, or blended distance learning.

Globe University Minnesota School of Business is a member of the Globe Education Network. The Globe Education Network is made up of a “consortium” of other educational institutions, which allows students to easily transfer credits between institutions. Members of the Globe Education Network include other professional training schools such as Minnesota School of Cosmetology, Utah Career College, Broadview University, Institute of Production and Recording, Transportation Center for Excellence, New Horizons – Benchmark Learning, and the Duluth Business University. Furthermore, GU/MSB is accredited by the Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools (ACICS).

The mission of GU/MSB is to prove that “We care.” This mission contains 7 areas of care, which are student success, employee success, investment success, customer service, communication, compliance, and community engagement. This means that GU/MSB strives to be a leader in Midwest distance learning by providing classes that are designed and taught by professionals for professionals. Furthermore, GU/MSB offers a variety of distance learning support services to best serve their students. Distance learning support services include online course orientation, online tutoring, face-to-face tutoring at satellite locations, an online library, help desk, and virtual bookstore.

Online distance learning degrees are offered at the associate’s, bachelor’s, and master’s levels. Associate’s degrees are offered in Accounting, Business Administration, Cosmetology Business, Criminal Justice, Health and Fitness Specialties, Information Technology, Paralegal, Sales and Marketing, and Transportation Business. Bachelor’s degrees are offered in Accounting, Business Administration, Business Management, Criminal Justice, Health Care Management, Health and Fitness Specialties, Information Technology, Media Business, Paralegal, and RN-BSN. Master’s degrees are available in Business Administration (MBA), Management (MSM), and Health Fitness Management (MS). As prospective students can see, GU/MSB is true to its roots in providing professional, career-oriented distance learning degrees.

Tuition and fees vary by program. Undergraduate tuition costs $435 per credit hour; tuition for the RN-BSN program is $625 per credit hour. Both undergraduate and nursing courses may have lab fees which range between $12.50 to $100 per course. Graduate tuition is $535 per credit hour. Books and fees for full-time students can range between $300 – $700 depending on the program. Financial aid is available in the form of loans, grants, and scholarships. GU/MSB offers 13 scholarships for different school programs and for military. Classes are small, making this a great deal for a quality education.
