Norfolk State University is a baccalaureate, public university of the liberal arts that is located in Norfolk, Virginia. Norfolk State enhances the success of its students by providing academic instruction of the highest possible quality. Students have access to a well-organized array of educational opportunities that bring their goals to them. The instructors are highly qualified and give students the best possible instruction that they can find in a university like this in addition to the peripheral knowledge and experience that a student needs to get ahead.

Norfolk State University has plenty of online classes for distance learners to choose from and take advantage of. Online courses can be taken individually for part-time study or can be arranged asynchronously for independent study. All courses and programs offered online at Norfolk State University are backed by the accreditation that the university continually receives.

Online classes cover a variety of topics meaning that students can explore. Topics include Biology, Business, Communications, History, Nutrition & Fitness, and many more subjects not listed here. Some course titles include Biological Science, Human Anatomy & Physiology, Business Communications, Introduction to Criminal Justice, Legal Issues in Criminal Justice Management, History of World Society, African American History, and Statistical Quality Control.

Currently, Norfolk State University does not seem to have any distance learning degree programs available despite having the option of classes online. If the student desires to earn their degree completely online, there is the option of taking as many credits as possible over the net and transferring to an institution that does feature online degree programs. Most colleges and universities around the country will respect credits earned online at Norfolk State. There is also the option of taking as many credits as possible online and going to campus for a brief residency to complete the degree, thereby eliminating most of the need to travel, but not all.

Since Norfolk State University is public in nature, tuition rates vary by the student’s status of residence. Resident/Non-resident undergraduate students should expect to pay $2,781/$14,028 per year when enrolling on a full-time basis and $247/$622 per credit hour when enrolling on a part-time basis. Resident/Non-resident graduate students will pay $4,880/$19,678 per year when enrolling full-time and $357/$974 per credit hour when enrolling part-time.

A good 89% of students attending Norfolk State University are receiving financial aid in some form and to some degree. An approximate average of 48% of all students at Norfolk receives federal aid each year. State and local grants combine to supply roughly 37% of students with grants and awards for tuition purposes. Institutional grants, like scholarships and other merit-based awards, are given to 25% of the student populace in any given term or semester.

    I would like to recieve information concerning distance learnong from NSU. I was a student @ NSU from 1975-1979, I left sfchool because of a familial situation. I would still like to graduate from Norfolk State University, please assist me in reaching this goal. Thank you.
