Northeastern State University Distance Learning

Northeastern State University is a university of public status that is based out of Tahlequah, Oklahoma. Northeastern State works fervently to provide education that is complete, far-reaching, and lasting for students of all backgrounds and calibers. This can only be achieved by offering teaching and instruction of the highest quality in order to give students an education that is both effective and relevant. The environment is friendly and supportive including all of the necessary resources to get the students from start to finish. For reasons like these, Northeastern State University has become home to over 8,000 students and growing.

Northeastern State features a large variety of online courses for distance learners to take advantage of. There are currently no full degree programs that can be completed 100% online, however, there are other means of completing one’s degree that may help to reduce the difficulties that distance learners face. One option is to fill out as many credits as possible using online courses and then make a trip to campus for a brief residency to finish the remaining courses. This would eliminate most of the on-campus requirements in the case that all on-campus requirements can’t be done away with.

There is also the option of completing credits online and then bringing these credits to another institution that does feature online distance programs. Most colleges and universities around the United States will respect credits earned online from Northeastern State University. Course selection is wide and spans a variety of topics to accommodate distance learners of all different studies. Course titles include, but are not limited to Personal Health, Special Circumstances Homicide, Fundamental Oral Communications, Introduction to Homeland Security, Educational Psychology, Introduction to Law & the American Court System, and Investigative Biology.

Northeastern State University is said to be particularly strong in the fields of Elementary Education & Teaching and Business Administration & Management. Either of these programs have seen specified attention from Northeastern State both for the volume of enrollment and assuring the quality of each student’s education in these fields.

Since Northeastern State University is public in nature, tuition rates are dependent upon the student’s status of residency. Resident/Non-resident students will pay $3,210/$9,300 per year when enrolling full-time and $139/$342 per credit hour when enrolling part-time. Resident/Non-resident students will pay $3,313/$8,833 per year when enrolling on a full-time basis and $170/$400 per credit hour when enrolling part-time.

A total of 92% of all students attending Northeastern State University is receiving financial aid in some form and to some degree. Federal grants are dispersed to roughly half of the student population in any given year. State and local resources combine to give 7 out of 10 students financial aid with grants and awards for tuition purposes.

Distance learners have a wide selection of courses to help them meet as much of their educational goals as they can online. Selection in online courses is poised to expand in the next few coming years. It is possible that, in the near future, distance learners will obtain degrees over the net from Northeastern State University as well.
