Northwood University is a business administration college, plain and simple. The first location was established in 1959 in a 19th century mansion, but was soon moved to its present location in Midland, Michigan in 1961. Since then, two more locations have opened up under the Northwood umbrella, with satellites in both Cedar Hills, Texas and West Palm Beach, Florida. Striving to “develop the future leaders of the global, free-enterprise society”, Northwood has spent the last 50 years enriching their curriculum with major/concentration options that give the business administration student whatever training their looking for.
Northwood looks at education as “an investment in your future” and take their part in it seriously, offering a core of ethical, sound, logical business ideology with an eye towards entrepreneurial and free-enterprise ventures. Taking in both undergrad and graduate students (their DeVos Graduate School of Management is also in Midland), Northwood fields a student body of 4000 or so business hungry students, with additional adult study and international programs available. Offerings in the BBA allow for double or triple majors, from accounting to marketing.
Those looking for an MBA have several options, with other Michigan satellite locations in the area offering evening classes (with a 24 month degree timeline) in addition to traditional learning times on all three mains (resulting in a 12 month program). There’s even a 10 month study abroad MBA program in Switzerland, though all options value experiential, case study learning, with managers practicing what is being preached.
Distance learning is present here, especially in their adult learning/continuing education programs. There are currently three different BBA degrees offered entirely online, in programs designed for busy adults with the full support and attention of Northwood faculty that traditional students receive. Offering a Management, Automotive Marketing/Management, and Aftermarket Management Bachelor, programs operate within the 8 week semester guideline of on campus equivalents and can all be accomplished completely online, or through hybrid courses at any location. There are even two scholarship programs for online learners, both in the Automotive Aftermarket BBA.
There are online courses for all students on campus as well, fully accredited and taught with the same high expectations of quality academics as their on campus counterparts. Library and advisement services are also online, all organized through my.northwood.edu (a college billboard of sorts, as well as link tool and student service).
Adult education is huge on campus as well, with numerous evening and weekend programs available, organized with the knowledge that many in the business field are working professionals looking for a leg up Everything from distance learning to seminars is offered for adult learners, as well as a 92 credit transfer allowance and a Prior Learning Assessment for credit that takes in to account working on the job (again, case study and hands on learning is important at Northwood). There are even additional satellite programs in Illinois, Kentucky, and several other states, bringing convenience to quality education.
Intern programs in Michigan, Florida, Texas, and abroad are offered, as well as the Swiss MBA program and several more in China, England, and Sri Lanka.
Dedicated to preserving free market values and the entrepreneurial spirit, Northwood University has graduate over 33,000 business professionals over the years and looks to continue that tradition another 50 years.
