Saint Joseph College is a Roman Catholic higher education institution that is comprised of a women’s undergraduate college and select coed graduate programs. Saint Joseph College is located in West Hartford, Connecticut and is consistently recognized by various institutions for its quality academics. Students are given personal attention and all of the resources they need in studying — no questions asked.
Saint Joseph College offers a variety of online courses for all purposes. This means that anyone from a busy student enrolled on campus to a distance learner several states away can take advantage of these online materials. Course selection is wide and covers a variety of topics. In addition, there are pre-arranged online degree programs for guided study terminating in a credential.
There are three online degree programs and these are all hosted by the college’s graduate school. The three available graduate degrees are the Master of Science in Biochemistry, the Master of Science in Biology, and the Master of Science in Nutrition. All of these programs have been accredited by the New England Association of School and Colleges and are approved by the Connecticut Department of Education.
One can also take online courses individually to specifically target the credits needed for a particular plan or majoring field. Some course titles include, but are not limited to Ecology, Biometry, Advanced Pathophysiology, Endocrinology, Public Health, Pediatric Nutrition, Dietetic Internship, and Medicinal Chemistry. It is recommended that one stick to the structure of the online graduate programs, but students have the ultimate choice in the matter.
Saint Joseph College offers a sample course for prospective students that want to try out the online atmosphere before diving in. Students are not stuck to a particular schedule, but rather a loose timeline that is bounded by due dates. The rest is up to the individual student’s motivation and organization skills.
For the online programs, cost is calculated per credit hour with no flat rate for full-time enrollment. Online programs are $630 per credit hour. There are other student fees for services like registration and technology, but these are negligible. The online graduate programs are the only programs available, so undergraduate rates do not apply to distance learners.
For the purpose of financial aid, Saint Joseph College offers a variety of institutional grants and awards as well as flexible financing options and payment plans. The SJC Scholarship awards up to $18,000 on the basis of SAT/ACT scores and a student’s grade point average. The McAuley Scholarship is available to freshmen that graduated from a Catholic high school with exceptional grades. It is worth up to $19,000 per year.
There are also need-based scholarships, like the Saint Joseph College Grant, a grant given to full-time students lacking the finances to fully pay for college. There are also 65 endowed scholarships for which any student applying for financial aid is considered.
