U.S. News and World Report has continuously ranked Saint Xavier University in the top 25% of best colleges in the Midwest. It was originally founded in 1846 by the Sisters of Mercy. Currently, just under 5000 students make up the co-educational student body of this four-year private university, both on-campus and distance learning. It is located on 74 acres in a residential area of Chicago. There is also a 35 acre campus in Orland Park that is surrounded by natural wetlands.
