Skidmore College Distance Learning

Skidmore College is a privately owned and operated college of the liberal arts that is located in Saratoga Springs, New York. Skidmore College is a cosmopolitan college with students coming from just as many American states as they do foreign countries. Educaiton is close-knit, having a student to faculty ratio of 8 to 1, and makes use of creativity and innovation to break the mold and make the educational experience last.

Tuition rates are relatively high, and are considered to be among the highest cost of education in the country. An undergraduate student will pay $38,114 for just one year of study, provided they are taking more than 12 credit hours per semester. There are graduate studies offered at the college, and that tuition is calculated at $367 per semester. Undergraduate part-time study costs $1,270 per credit hour.

Fortunately, there is a large amount of financial aid that is awarded to help combat the cost of higher education. 40% of the student body receives financial aid in the form of a grant yearly from the college itself. The average amount awarded per student per year is $25,238. This is only the average amount, leaving some students with a few over $10,000 to put towards their education, whereas others have their tuition paid off almost entirely.

Skidmore invests heavily in global education and is one of the leading schools for the amount of students studying abroad. This has both increased the amount of students going from the college as well as the amount of students coming to the college from foreign countries. At the same time, this has brought scholars and academia from places around the world to exchange ideas and bring Skidmore a more diverse take on global affairs.

Currently, Skidmore College is not offering distance learning. This is not due to a present lack of resources or time, per se, but may be due to other factors. One factor may be that Skidmore College is a premium institution and may have trouble transferring the benefits of its collegiate style over the Internet. This seems to be the case with most premium colleges. This does not mean there won’t be any distance learning, but rather that its implementation will take more time.

This college is ranked as #80 in the general ring of colleges and universities in the entire country by Forbes. No specifications, just 80th best in the nation. For this reason, Skidmore is considered to be one of the New Ivies and may further penetrate those ranks as its reputation continues to flourish. Among liberal arts colleges, Skidmore College ranks 41st, as designated by U.S. News & World Report.

Beyond that, there is a good variety of studies to choose from. Students can receive some of the best quality education in the field of Computer Science, or in Dance, Psychology, English, or even Law. All of the subject matter at Skidmore is given emphatic attention and receives top faculty to teach these topics.
