A. ARTEMIS is a "portal" for Florida Community College students. What does that mean? Well, traditionally a portal is an entrance or access point. You can think of ARTEMIS (https://ARTEMIS.fccj.edu/student/) as an access point on the web, designed to allow Florida Community College students access to online resources and information.
Return
A. It's different because ARTEMIS is an access portal that not everyone can enter. You must be a Florida Community College student, and you must know your user id and
password. The information at ARTEMIS is kept private unless the correct user id/password combination is provided, whereas the main web site has resources that are accessible to anyone. Currently ARTEMIS allows students to:
Return
-
View the course schedule for terms with open registration
-
View the student's schedule for current/upcoming terms
-
l View financial information, including total balance due, and a summary of financial data for each term
-
View grades for courses completed at Florida Community College
-
View an unofficial transcript
-
Login to courses that are online
-
Access student email
A. Students are assigned an email account user id and an initial password the first time you have ever taken a class or filled out or submitted a membership application for Florida Community College. Your ARTEMIS user id and password is the same your assigned email account user id and password.
Return
The user id is the part of the email address that comes before the "@students.fccj.edu".
Please contact the Technical Helpdesk for information about your account information if you are unable to retrieve the information from the steps on ARTEMIS student log on help.
A. The best way to register is:
-
Login to ARTEMIS
-
Click the "Search Open Class Schedule”
-
Follow the steps
-
Click on “Add class”
Upon registering for an online course, students must send an email message to the course instructor with the following information: full name, complete student email address, and course name with 6 digit reference number. Students with financial balances or financial aid "holds" must contact the Business Office prior to registering.
Return
A. Students may drop a course by clicking the” Register (Add/Drop) Classes” link in ARTEMIS Return
A. This normally means that a popup blocker is
on. Try holding down Ctrl while clicking the button or turn off the
pop up blocker. Return
A. Students should use ARTEMIS login to access your courses, email, course schedule, and other personal information.
Return
A. ARTEMIS allows you to reset your password. To do this, click Password Help on the Student Log On page. Then, for security reasons, you will need to provide us with your social security number and answer all questions. If you have previously taken advantage of the opportunity to set a personal Security Question, you can answer the Security Question that you set up for yourself. If you do not know your Security Question answer and do not know your Student user id or Password, you may contact the Technical Helpdesk for assistance.
Return
A. If you don’t see an error message, cookies are probably disabled in the web browser. Cookies must be enabled to access your course. Return
A. You only need to apply once; go to the ARTEMIS student logon screen and use you can get userid help to allow you to login.
Return
A. Visit http://fccj.edu/ , click “Student Logon”, click “Userid Help” or “Password Help” and follow the prompts to obtain your account information. If this procedure fails we can perform a reset over the phone upon verifying your identity.
Return
A. Go to Tools, Internet Options, and then the Privacy tab. Be sure the slider is set to medium. Norton and McAfee security can also interfere with this. Your computer may be blocking cookies. Check the “Privacy” tab, select “Default” or “Accept All Cookies.”
Return
A. All online classroom environments at FCCJ use the course platform Blackboard. Visit
http://fccj.edu/ , click “Student Log On”, login with your ARTEMIS Userid and Password. Click “View My Class Schedule By Term”, select the appropriate term, then look at your class schedule. Each class should have an item that says “Courseware: Bb”. The Bb icon is Blackboard.

Return
A. Your computer is infected with Spyware. You can download several freely available spyware removal tools at
http://download.com/ - Two of the most effective are Ad-Aware and Spybot S&D.
Return
A. No! Once a file is sent it cannot be removed.
Return
A. This could be due to a server time out, arrow back to your class to resume your quiz. Don’t forget to save your answers. If the time allocated for completing the quiz has not expired, you should be able to resume the quiz and submit your answers, if not contact your instructor immediately to have the quiz reset.

Return
A. Login to ARTEMIS and click “My FCCJ Email” or go directly to
http://webmail.students.fccj.edu/
Return
A. No. It can only be checked via the FCCJ website. This ensures delivery of your email to a system where we control service and availability versus a third party email system that we have no control over.
Return
A. Many companies set up firewalls as security measures against hackers. Firewalls provide security by closing certain Internet ports, which disables student access to Blackboard or ARTEMIS.
Return
A. Rest assured Florida Community College takes all appropriate precautions to ensure the security of our web users. We value security and your privacy, and therefore not only require you to enter a user id/password combination to access sensitive information on our web sites, but also take appropriate measures to ensure that the information you send is encrypted during its transmission via the web. For that reason, anytime that we ask you to enter a user id/password, we will provide a secure method for you to do so. The secure method then encrypts the data you enter and transmits the data from your computer to our server. This encryption ensures that the information cannot be read by others as it is passed from you to us. In general, the encryption of data is what makes a secure web transaction secure. However, encrypting data puts extra load on the server and can slow down transmissions over the web. In an effort to not bog down the Internet, we do not encrypt every transmission that is sent from our servers. So for pages that do not contain sensitive information, we do not encrypt the transmission, which, in turn, makes the web experience a more enjoyable one for all of our users.
So, why the warning? Many web browsers (such as Mozilla Firefox, Netscape Navigator and Internet Explorer) display a warning when the user makes the transition from a secure site to a non-secure site. The reason for doing this, presumably, is to protect the user from unknowingly passing sensitive information (such as a user id or password), via the Internet in an unsecured environment. This is a precaution to help you know when it is no longer safe for you to enter sensitive information on a web page and submit that information. When you see this warning message, you need to be aware of the fact that any subsequent information you provide will not be encrypted.
Return
A. You must first download the Word document directly to your computer. You have opened a read-only version in an Internet Explorer window that can be temporarily edited but not permanently saved. When clicking a link to download a file, always choose “Save As…” versus “Open” so that the file can first be saved to your computer. You can then edit it and transmit it back to your instructor via email, the Digital Drop Box or the Assignment upload feature.
Return
A. You are on the wrong monitor input; hit the button with a minus sign in the lower right corner.
Return
A. The Technical Helpdesk will attempt to
answer your technology questions, both with regard to software
and to particular computer systems that are a result of a course
you are taking at Florida Community College. However, you will
ultimately be responsible for knowing how to use your own
equipment. You can contact the Technical Helpdesk by telephone,
632-3151, or by email,
helpdesk@fccj.edu
Return
A. The Technical Helpdesk is part of the Learner Support Center. We have our hours listed on our webpage at http://www.distancelearning.org/learnersupport/index.html, along with the college calendar and holiday/break closings.
Return
A. Yes you can. We have a link to report a
problem. This link will email the
helpdesk@fccj.edu, and
the staff will respond to your problem, during our regular
operating hours. Report a Problem:
helpdesk@fccj.edu
Return
A. Call the Technical Helpdesk or contact your instructor. As mentioned above, occasionally due to the "flukes" of being on the cutting edge of technology (bugs in operating systems and browsers, and dropped information in network transmissions, etc.) you may get a message about not being logged in when you had been, etc. This shouldn't happen often but things like this are a part of "using the web". If this happens you should try the following things in order until the problem is solved:
-
Use the browsers main Reload or Refresh button.
-
Go back to the login page and login again.
-
If that doesn't work try shutting down your browser and reopening it again.
-
If all else fails, sometimes rebooting your computer solves everything.
You can send email to
helpdesk@fccj.edu describing any problems you can not solve, but please include EVERY DETAIL you can possibly provide, such as name, course, passwords used, type of browser and version number, what page you were on, what the message is, etc. Feel free to call us directly at 904-632-3151 or visit our website for helpful tutorials, How–To Videos, and links.
