State University of New York at New Paltz Distance Learning

The State University of New York at New Paltz is a university of public status located in New Paltz, New York. New Paltz features a good selection of studies in the liberal arts and sciences. Students are given the best possible instruction for their dollar and can choose from the Schools of Business, Liberal Arts & Sciences, Education, Fine Arts, Science & Engineering, and more. SUNY New Paltz is accredited by a variety of associations, such as the Accreditation Board for Engineering & Technology, the Computer Sciences Accreditation Board, and the National Association of Schools of Art & Design, and many more not listed here.

SUNY New Paltz features a broad array of online materials that distance learners can take advantage of. There is a selection of online courses designed with the distance learner in mind and spreads a select variety of topics. All courses offered at SUNY New Paltz are backed by the continually received accreditation of the university itself, and all courses are taught by SUNY New Paltz’s own instructors, and not teaching assistants or interns. In this respect, students learning at a distance receive the same education as students on campus.

Some course titles include, but are not limited to Art Criticism, Research in Art Education, Observation in Communication Disorders, Administrative Theory & Practice, Issues in Multicultural Education, and Issues in Literacy for Diverse Learners. Course selection varies by term, of course, but the general diversity and number of courses offered have increased over time.

SUNY New Paltz does not yet feature a full distance learning degree program, or at least not one that can be completed online. One option distance learners can take is to complete as many courses as possible online and then take a trip to campus to complete their degree, or they can transfer their credits to another school that does feature online degree programs. Most colleges and universities will respect credits earned online form SUNY New Paltz.

Since the State University of New York at New Paltz is of public status, tuition rates vary by residency. Full-time resident/non-resident undergraduates will pay the yearly tuition fee of $4,350/$10,610 and, when enrolling on a part-time basis, $181/$442 per credit hour. Full-time graduate resident/non-resident graduates will pay $6,900/$10,920 per year and part-time resident/non-resident graduates will pay $288/$455 per credit hour.

Federal grants are dispersed to a yearly approximate average of 1 in 4 financial aid recipients. State and local sources combine to supply approximately half of students with awards and grants for tuition purposes. New Paltz itself does feature some array of scholarships and grants, but supplies these to only 3% of students and not in great amount.

The State University of New York at New Paltz is a good source of education for distance learners and students on campus. Distance learners can peruse the online courses to get their credits quickly and more easily. Course selection will expand in the future and distance degree programs are on their way.
