In one of my previous posts, I talked about things you can do instead of fretting about your AP test scores coming in July (which is quickly approaching if you have not noticed!) Now, I’ve come again with word on several things you may need for Summer vacation, such as a Summer Vacation checklist, as well as events that are coming up around Florida, for your enjoyment. After all, what better way to prepare for school than having a great Summer? Remember that “H.A.G.S” in your yearbook? Give them something to really write “H.A.G.S” for.
Summer Vacation Checklist: (feel free to print out this page if you want.) This list was created by Adam Glassmann at Oprah. Basically, this is the objective list for a twelve day cruise. Rearrange the list as desired:
- Three cotton camisoles for layering
- Cardigan or hoodie
- Zip up jacket and lounge pants
- White jeans
- Bermuda shorts
- Maxi dress for dinners
- Short jersey day dress
- Swimsuit and a cover up
- Straw hat or fisherman’s hat
- Flip flops, wedges, and sneakers
- Beach bag for day, small purse for night
Alright, so now for the fun part! Ideas of things you can do this Summer, provided you are of age!
Obviously, as coming from the list, cruises are already in place. But in case you don’t have a cruise planned or the money to spend on one, here’s some other things you can do.
#1. Go to the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino.
Provided you are of age, you can do more than eat at the restaurant. You can play poker at the age of 18 and all other games at the age of 21. Just be sure to go with a set amount of money to blow, and do not, under any circumstances, use any other money.
#2. Try something different.
It’s Summertime, and if you haven’t started life in the real world yet, you may want to try something new just to experience something different in your experience! For example, check if there’s a local hookah lounge and see if some friends want to go! Or if you’re not into that kind of stuff, go to the beach with your friends at night! Chances are there may be some fire spinners. Either way, just go have a good time before Summer passes you by and you’ve wasted it on the same-old, same-old.
#3. Go to a concert.
It doesn’t matter what type of music you’re into – there’s a concert for you somewhere. Some have already passed, such as the Sunset Music Festival, but others are to come, such as Van’s Warped Tour 2013. Perhaps you have some friends in some local bands that you can go support too!
#4. Go to Sarasota.
If there’s anything I think you should do this Summer in the Florida area, it’s go to Sarasota. The place is vivid and colorful, featuring artwork by the students at Ringling – which is crazy good, and crazy beautiful to see. But that’s not all that’s in Sarasota – there’s also the Amish places such as Dutch Heritage and Yoder’s, that are way too good to not eat at at least once in your lifetime! Totally worth the time.
