Testing for Distance Learning Students

Testing assistance for Distance Learning students is just a telephone call or mouse click away. Testing support is available for these areas:

There is not normally a testing fee charged to Florida Community College at Jacksonville students testing at Florida Community College at Jacksonville test centers. Testing fees charged by remote test centers are the responsibility of the student.

Alternate Site Testing

Note: Students in the First Coast area should be aware that not all faculty allow for alternate site testing.  Please check your instructor's syllabus, course outline or contact your instructor for more information.

Alternate site testing is provided through the Distance Learning Office for students in the local Jacksonville area. Sites are scheduled at Florida Community College at Jacksonville campuses, on designated days and times.  Your instructor will let you know if he or she is providing the option to use an alternate site. If you choose an alternate site, you will be required to designate your site for the entire term (you cannot take different tests at different sites). Please note that you will be required to show proper identification at the test site. Please note that the rooms of the alternate test sites may change each semester.  Click here to see the current alternate testing site locations and schedules.

Recorded updated information about changes, cancellations, and closures to the alternate site-testing schedule is available by calling 904.633.8309.

CD-Based Course Testing

Local CD Course students will take their exams at Open Campus Assessment Services, Urban Resource Center, 601 W. State St.  An appointment is required for testing and can be schedule by calling 904.632.5020.

Local active duty military CD Course students can also test with the Florida Community College at Jacksonville advisor at Naval Station Mayport or NAS Jacksonville. They should contact the Florida Community College at Jacksonville advisor to schedule their exams.

Remote CD Course students will need to provide a Remote Test Site Proctor Approval Form to Open Campus Assessment Services in order to have their exams sent to their test proctor. More information is available at Remote Site Testing.

It is strongly recommended that a completed Remote Test Site Proctor Approval Form be sent to Open Campus Assessment Services at least three weeks in advance of your desired test date. This will insure that you can meet instructor and course deadlines.

Exit Testing

Exit testing is required for all students taking college prep courses.

Students who live within the First Coast are required to test with their instructor. Your instructor will provide the necessary testing information.

Remote students can arrange for the Open Campus Assessment Services to mail the tests to a test proctor at a college or university near their home.

Remote students will need to provide a Remote Test Site Proctor Approval Form to Open Campus Assessment Services in order to have their exams sent to their test proctor. More information is available at Remote Site Testing.

It is strongly recommended that a completed Remote Test Site Proctor Approval Form be sent to Open Campus Assessment Services at least three weeks in advance of your desired test date. This will insure that you can meet instructor and course deadlines.

Online Courses

Remote Online Course students will need to provide an Online Remote Site Proctor Approval Form to the Distance Learning Office in order to have their exams sent to their test proctor. More information is available at Remote Site Testing.

It is strongly recommended that a completed Online Remote Test Site Proctor Approval Form be sent to the Distance Learning Office at least three weeks in advance of your desired test date. This will insure that you can meet instructor and course deadlines.

Placement Testing

All new Florida Community College at Jacksonville students are required to take a college placement test.

Students who live within the First Coast are required to take the placement test at a Florida Community College campus.  They can contact the Florida Community College at Jacksonville campus assessment center nearest their home to schedule their exams.

Remote students will need to provide a Remote Test Site Proctor Approval Form to Open Campus Assessment Services in order to have their placement exams sent to their test proctor. More information is available at Remote Site Testing.

It is strongly recommended that a completed Remote Test Site Proctor Approval Form be sent to Open Campus Assessment Services at least three weeks in advance of your desired test date. This will insure that you can meet instructor and course deadlines.

Telecourse

Regularly scheduled testing is held at the location noted in your course outline, or you may choose one of the alternate testing sites.

If the test site in your syllabus is listed as "ONLY," testing is available only at that location with the instructor.

Remote Telecourse students will need to provide a Remote Test Site Proctor Approval Form to Open Campus Assessment Services in order to have their exams sent to their test proctor. More information is available at Remote Site Testing.

It is strongly recommended that a completed Remote Test Site Proctor Approval Form be sent to Open Campus Assessment Services at least three weeks in advance of your desired test date. This will insure that you can meet instructor and course deadlines.

Testing Fees

Any testing fees charged by non-Florida Community College at Jacksonville testing centers are the responsibility of the student.

Remote Site Testing

Students who live more than 75 miles from a Florida Community College at Jacksonville test site have the option to request a remote test site proctor.  Remote Online Course students will need to provide a Remote Test Site Proctor Approval Form to Open Campus Assessment Services in order to have their exams sent to their test proctor.

Choosing a Remote Site

Remote site testing must be at a college, university or military Educational Services Offices (ESO). High schools and libraries are not acceptable remote testing sites.  Test proctors must be authorized by the college or university to administer tests or in the case of ESO's, personnel must be assigned or appointed to the ESO department.

Open Campus Assessment Services must approve all remote testing sites prior to testing.

Approved Remote Sites

Once a college, university or ESO has agreed to proctor the tests, the student will need to work with them to complete and return the Remote Test Site Proctor Approval Form to Open Campus Assessment Services

It is strongly recommended that a completed Remote Test Site Proctor Approval Form be sent to Open Campus Assessment Services at least three weeks in advance of your desired test date. This will insure that you can meet instructor and course deadlines.
