The Perfect Late Night Playlist for Your Late Night Projects

School has started, and you might already be feeling the pressure of deadlines. And if you’re like me, you’re going to need something to help you stay up for the projects you’ve been given. Of course tea and coffee help – but sometimes a drink is just not enough to keep you going. So on the chance that you’re able to listen to music and do your schoolwork at the same time, here’s a list of songs that should help you keep awake, motivated, and away from closing your eyes.

#1. Skeptics and True Believers by The Academy Is…

The perfect alternative song to vamp you up. It’s quite catchy and you may want to sing along.

#2. Girls by Beastie Boys

Just listen to it. You won’t regret it.

#3. Baby, You Wouldn’t Last a Minute On the Creek by Chiodos

#4. My Songs Know What You Did in the Dark by Fall Out Boy

I don’t know if you were ever hyped on Fall Out Boy, but during my preteen years they were my favorite band – and they’ve come back with this radio hit – which is well worth the listen to. It’s not quite the same nostalgic Fall Out Boy, but it’s not bad.

#5. Recovery by Frank Turner

A faster-paced song, but so gentle in melody. You’ll understand what I’m saying when you hear it. Plus, the lyrics are wonderful.

#6. Such Small Hands by La Dispute

Yes, this song is short (1:36) but it’s so obscure, it’s sure to keep you up. Plus, the let down will have you begging for more. Or slightly annoyed. Both are good for staying awake.

#7. Royals by Lorde

I believe this is the first song on this list sung by a female! Anyway, I threw this song in there because it’s something I personally turn up the volume for in the car. It reminds me of the fact that I’m a broke college student, and that I’m completely fine with it. Anyway, it’s a lovely song. Her voice is golden.

#8. Madness by Muse

This song is definitely one of the more chill songs on this list. This one should be saved for around four in the morning. Don’t ask why, it just fits the scene.

#9. Tracing Back Roots by We Came As Romans

Disclaimer: This one is not for the faint of heart – because it’s actually quite heavy. I’m usually not crazy into this music, but the fact that I can’t predict where the song is going to go may keep you awake – plus the lyrics are beautifully thought together.

#10. You’ll Rebel to Anything by Mindless Self Indulgence

If you’ve ever listened to MSI, you’ll find that they’re quite industrial sounding – which is wonderful. I like this song in particular because you don’t exactly know where the song is going to go – which is always a plus, especially if you’re big on music and everything starts to sound the same. But, like all other MSI songs, it’s fast paced and something you can really stay awake to.
