Nevada Distance Learning

When students in Nevada are ready to pursue higher education, they have many options from which to choose. Nevada is a state with much to offer, from the internationally famous Las Vegas to the biggest little city in the world, Reno. From its famous shows to elaborate casinos and resort hotels, Nevada does everything in style. When it comes to distance education, it’s the same way. Nevada has many great colleges and universities using the latest technology to bring higher education to students. The University of Nevada Las Vegas is the premier university within the state. The school’s Division of Educational Outreach provides everything a student needs to succeed in distance education. From a variety of online courses and degrees to tutoring and advising, the university all but guarantees success to its students. Using the Blackboard system to deliver courses, UNLV is at the forefront of distance learning. Recently, its Office of Online Education was accepted into the New Media Consortium, an international nonprofit group dedicated to using new media and technology for distance learning.

Dedicated to discovering and implementing innovative learning avenues for students, the office’s goal is to provide adults with employment skills and an interest in lifelong learning. Working with both public schools and universities, the Distance Education division ensures that the latest technology is used to deliver courses. Videoconferencing, web-based technology, telecourses and more are used to help public schools and colleges provide more and more unique learning opportunities to students. The office is also responsible for regulating the approval of distance learning courses offered within the state. It maintains a list of approved distance learning providers, intent on keeping the high standards of learning Nevada sets for its students.

Nevada State College provides students with chances to earn degrees in numerous online programs. For nurses, the school offers an RN to BSN program to let nurses further their education while maintaining a flexible schedule for work and school. Students interested in business can complete a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, allowing them to enter an ever-changing business world. Educators can complete degrees in Elementary and Secondary Education, Speech Pathology and more including Administrative and Leadership degrees. Those interested in Liberal Arts and General Studies can earn degrees in these fields, opening up a variety of opportunities to students in many occupations.
